Just before Xmas we tendered and won our first asbestos removal project with Coventry University. Acting as Principle Contractor, we prepared a detailed Construction Phase Plan including thorough Risk Assessments and Method Statements and started on site in February.
The 8 week project saw full Asbestos Removal followed by a decontamination of the underground service tunnels linking four of the Universities buildings on their busy City Centre campus. The project saw our team assess and manage the specific risks associated with confined spaces, elevated temperatures, low Oxygen levels, the movement of people and unauthorised access.
Jason Gillett; Asbestechs’ lead Contracts Manager said, “From the outset, we had to consider and manage some key challenges on this project which made the design of the work very interesting. The team at Coventry University were a pleasure to work with and I’m delighted the project was brought in ahead of program and accident and incident free.”
