John Caudwells charity, Caudwell Children, held its annual fundraiser, ‘The Butterfly Ball’ in May in central London. Celebrating the charities tenth Anniversary, the black tie evening was hosted by celebrity compere Colin Jackson CBE and was attended by many legends of stage, screen and sport from across the globe.
Celebrities on the guest list included the likes of Liz Hurley, Joan Collins, Dame Shirley Bassey, Penny Lancaster Stewart and Bruce Forsyth to name but a few. The evening’s entertainment featured performances from a host of special guests and ended with an incredible live performance from British rock n roll legend Sir Elton John who performed hits such as Rocket Man, Your Song, I’m Still Standing and Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.
Caudwell Children is the very last resort for special children and their families across the UK who desperately need life enhancing treatments, therapies and specialist equipment, while also funding and organising group holidays for terminally ill youngsters. To date, the charity has donated over £11m between thousands of children.
Trudi Beswick, CEO of Caudwell Children, commented ‘’Our annual ball is what we have become famous for and it is our single largest fundraising event, last year raising £1.7m to help sick and disabled children. We are very grateful to our celebrity supporters, who help to add some of the glamour to the event and often provide money-can’t-buy auction prizes’’.
Daniel Chalkley, Managing Director of Asbestech said, ‘’I’m very proud that we are a sponsor of the Butterfly Ball. It is an extremely important charity which delivers vital opportunity and support to children and their families which often falls outside the scope of the NHS. Not only is the evening a fun event for the Asbestech team to attend; meeting and seeing children who have benefited directly from the charity is inspirational’’.
